Satchel Clendenin commits to Riv for 2016-17

Township of Langley, BC (Tuesday, January 19, 2016) – The Langley Rivermen are pleased to announce forward Satchel Clendenin (1997 born) has committed to the Rivermen for the 2016-17 season.

The 6 foot 1, 190 pound 18-year-old, is from Bethseda, MD and is in his third season with Kent School in the USHS. Kent School is a private prep school in Kent, Connecticut and is the same program that Max Kaufman came from before he joined the Rivermen. In 10 games this year, Clendenin has recorded 3 goals and 5 assists for 8 points.

“I am very excited to have the opportunity to play for such a high level program in a strong league. I have liked what Coach Henderson has had to say about the Rivermen and look forward to playing for him and the rest of the staff,” said Clendenin.

One of the things he took away from his meetings with Rivermen Head Coach and General Manager Bobby Henderson is the amount of players the franchise has moved on to the NCAA ranks.

“I was impressed to hear that the program has a strong tradition of moving players to the next level. My goal is to earn a Division I scholarship and I believe playing well with the Rivermen will help me achieve that,” Clendenin continued.

When scouting Clendenin, Henderson was impressed with his skating ability and feels will be an asset to the forward group.

“Satchel can skate really well, which makes him is a good 200-foot player. He has a good size frame with a good skill set to go with it, and I believe will develop into a solid player for us next year,” said Henderson.

The Rivermen have three games scheduled this week. On Thursday and Friday, they have a double header in Prince George with the Spruce Kings. On Sunday, January 24th, they welcome the Coquitlam Express to the Langley Events Centre at 3:00pm. Following the game there will be a ‘Skate with the Rivermen’.
