Rivermen gameday: Rivermen @ Wild

Tonight marks the first time the Rivermen travel across the border to take on an opponent. It will be the fourth meeting of the season between the Riv and Wild with Wenatchee leading the season series 2-1. The Wild came into the LEC last Saturday night and handed Langley a 5-2 loss in a game they were down 2-0 after the first period.

The Rivermen are coming off a month of January where they finished with a .500 record of 6-6. This weekend’s doubleheader has a big four points up for grabs with the way the standings currently read. The Rivermen sit in third place in the Mainland Division with a 27-18-2-1 record for 57 points, while the Wild are two ahead with 59 points.

The month of February is a road heavy month for the Rivermen. In their 10 game schedule, they will play eight away from the LEC and will start a stretch of five straight on the road from February 11-20. In 21 away games this season, the Riv are 10-10-0-1.

“It is important for us to play well here down the stretch. Having a lot of road games will be a good test for us with playoffs on the horizon and hopefully we can get some good momentum moving forward,” said Rivermen Associate Head Coach and Assistant GM Kurt Astle.

The puck drops at 7:05 pm from Toyota Town Center and can be seen live on www.fasthockey.com.
